CyberSecure Canada Certification
On August 12, 2019, the Federal Government launched a program to help small and medium sized businesses assess and improve their cybersecurity posture. While governments, banks, and large enterprises can afford to spend millions of dollars a year on cybersecurity, SMBs can’t. The CyberSecure program provides a pathway for SMBs to become resilient enough to withstand most cyberattacks. If the worst does happen, the program positions participants to recover rapidly and minimize losses.
Well that sounds great, but how does it work? CyberSecure is a list of security controls designed to prevent most attacks, and to increase resiliency to the ones that get through. The CyberSecure Canada Certification program verifies whether an SMB has implemented the controls to an acceptable level. If an organization meets the standard then they achieve certification. If work still needs to be done to meet the standard then the certification assessment process provides recommendations on how to get there.
At Wetware Cybersecurity we’re looking at how we can participate in the Pilot Phase of the program. We hope to become an accreditation body and to provide high quality and affordable advisory services to SMBs that need it.
